Lily white, and the German WWII song Lili Marleen. Lili is the German spelling of Lily… as in the WWII love song "Lili Marleen." German forces' radio station played it frequently and that station was received throughout Europe and the Mediterranean. Allied troops listened to it and later adapted the tune to their own lyrics. Marlene Dietrich recorded it in German and English. The song is about the girl left behind…. they last kissed under the lamp post… will she be there when he returns?? That's the general gist of the song. I am such a WWII movie fan that I have known this song as long as I can remember. Nancy Radke

Updates from my forever home!
|
Hi, Scarlett!
Well, we are having a ball with
these two stinkers!! We are verrrry
tired though... a bit sleep
deprived. :) They both know their
names and they understand what
"No" means. They have adapted to
the crates in our bedroom with
little problem. We are up about 4-5
a.m. for potty but they haven't
soiled the crates so far. We are
getting better at recognizing the
warning signs of the need to go
outside so we are not having too
many accidents inside now, There's
not much time between the subtle
warning and the accident! Poor
babies, yesterday was sooo cold
and all day rain. We just picked
them up and carried them to the
pole barn so they could go.
Question... we have rocks in our drive and they insist on chewing on the rocks. I am so worried they will
swallow one. Any suggestions? I take it out of the mouth, say "no", and try to give them a stick or something
else, but they LOVE the rocks!
I just wanted you to see a few photos to see we are all very happy and well. Had the vet check last week. Lily
weighs 12 pounds and Loreli weighs 14 pounds. I am convinced we got the best of the litter! :) :) They are
soooo smart and lovable. Take care, Nancy

The introduction to our mini's was so funny. Loreli ran the other way, but Lily stood her ground. Our "boys"
are so gentle and used to being around many dogs; they were just a little curious and then disinterested.
The girls were introduced to our 4 hens and 1 rooster today.... and the chase was on... dogs after chickens.
We only let the chickens out of their coop for several hours each day. So later we took the girls out on a
leash to keep the peace.
We are still working on having peace with the cat inside the house at night. Now the girls are not as frantic
and loud about her; they are progressing slowly to curiosity. But our cat tamed and made good friends with
our previous dogs, of which 2 were definite cat chasers. She is not aggressive toward dogs at all. After a
while, they all laid on the living room floor together each evening. So, I feel this will work fine after a while.
Thanks for putting the photos on their pages. We are having so much fun with these sweet girls!!!
Take care. Franz and Nancy
